I created this collection of GIFs as part of ongoing research for a Virtual Reality project based on the work of Edouard Muybridge, the 19th-century photographer famous for his movement studies of horses and humans. He is often considered the unofficial inventor of the GIF.
These A.I. interpretations offers an alternative history of the human body in motion, and questions the notion of physical movement in relation to speed. When we create with the help of A.I., we sometimes have the impression of communicating with an extraterrestrial life form and opening a portal to a parallel universe.
Ik heb deze verzameling GIF’s gemaakt als onderdeel van onderzoek voor een Virtual Reality project dat gebaseerd is op het werk van Edouard Muybridge, de 19e-eeuwse fotograaf die vooral beroemd is omwille van zijn bewegingsstudies van paarden en mensen. Hij wordt vaak beschouwd als de onofficiële uitvinder van de GIF.
Deze A.I. interpretaties van zijn werk bieden een alternatieve geschiedenis van het menselijk lichaam in beweging en bevragen de notie van fysieke beweging in relatie tot snelheid. Tijdens het creëren met behulp van A.I., had ik vaak de indruk dat ik communiceerde met een buitenaardse levensvorm en dat er zich een portaal opende naar een parallel universum.
