Interplay explores the relationship between light, space, and human perception by combining realistic video imagery with colorful shadows. Realistic videos mimic how the human eye perceives the world, offering detailed and grounded representations of reality. In contrast, colorful shadows—formed by the interplay of light sources and objects—introduce an abstract, otherworldly dimension, emphasizing light, form, and color over literal representation.
This juxtaposition of realism and abstraction creates a dynamic interaction between movement, time, and narrative in videos, and the static or shifting forms of shadows. Together, they challenge viewers to reconsider time, space, and perception, blending tangible and subjective experiences. The project also invites interaction, as shadows respond to physical movement, fostering an engaging dialogue between the viewer and the visual elements.
By presenting these elements side by side, the work encourages a deeper exploration of how we perceive and interpret the world, oscillating between the concrete and the ethereal.
