This device allows you to look at a flame from an unnervingly close distance, while simultaneously viewing the world through a blue filter — a light created by the flame itself. At the same time, the act of using
the instrument evokes a subtle sense of tension or confrontation toward the bystanders: it resembles a kind of pointing device, as if the user were aiming at the audience. The gesture oscillates between danger, wonder, proximity, and distance. Like a tool used to look at the sun through your fingers, this
work seeks a moment of union and intimacy with something inherently dangerous — something you cannot
fully merge with without being burned or disappearing. It exists on the border between self-loss and self-preservation. As with all other works, Flame Instrument functions as an installation:c a precisely lit environment in which both the user and the onlookers become part of the shared experience — bound together by the fragile line between fascination and danger.
