From the joint call by Werktank and KU Leuven / Group T, the project SMOH. Slight Movement of the Horizon by the Spanish artist Gabriel Ruiz was selected in 2016. Together with the students of the Department Electronics-ICT of Group T, Gabriel developed a mirrored structure, which can slightly move. Its interruption of the horizon line confuses our perception of something that is supposed to be unalterable.
Like a large billboard, it reminds us that space and distance determine our spatial experience. While playing with the horizon, the mirrors dislocate their centre of gravity towards an undefined image that needs to be rethought and reconfigured.
